Chuck... as my sponsor pointed out to me, it's alcoholism not alcoholwasim <smile> I can only assume it's the same with assoholism. The never-ending journey indeed. <smile>
And thanks for the thanks. It's a bit o' a dicey deal for me navigating the 12th Tradition of anonymity. I understand most of the raison d'ĂȘtres the founders of the fellowship considered vital & important, and although I think there are a number of "game-changers" that be-here-now... I respect and do my best to adhere to their letter & spirit.
That said, "My name is John and I'm an alcoholic" (and now, "My name is John and I'm an assoholic.") is something I say out-loud for my higher self and all the other selves (both high & low) out there. Placing principles before personalities is a done deal (although I am constantly looking closely to make sure I do and have) and... there's this:
Step 12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
I'm in the process of... Awakening & Trying & Carrying & Practicing.
Thanks.
I appreciate you.
