inspired by, the "Big Book", Chapter Five, "How It Works."
In the book (which is the text I'm studying for my Masters in Recovery by way of Spitirual Awakening), following the "Third Step Prayer" it says: "The wording was, of course, quite optional so long as we expressed the idea, voicing it without reservation. This was only a beginning, though if honestly and humbly made, an effect, sometimes a very great one, was felt at once."
So, this writer's "optional" wording (because as a writer I cannot help myself <smile>) goes like so:
GOD, I ask that you take complete control of my life & work from this moment on.
Release me from the burden and relieve me of the bondage to my false-self, that I may better serve YOUR Purpose for my Authentic-self and all concerned.
Help me rise above my resentments and character defects and all the difficulties they cause.
Teach me how to have my triumph over them demonstrate to all I would influence & inspire YOUR Power, YOUR Intelligence, YOUR Love, YOUR Compassion, YOUR Forgiveness, YOUR Grace, YOUR Peace and YOUR Wisdom— and the extraordinary abundance of Freedom, Health, Wealth & Joy of YOUR Way of Life.
Father, direct me to do YOUR WILL always and in all ways.
Acutally directly following The Third Step Prayer in the book, same paragraph it reads:
We thought well before taking this step making sure we were ready; that we could at last abandon ourselves utterly to Him.
Is that THE way of it now for me— now? No. Not yet. I'm willing, just not clear "how" to go about it— other than saying my prayer over and over many times each day. And... the idea is being "expressed, voiced without reservation, honestly and humbly made."
That's the best beginning I know how to make.
Thanks.
I appreciate you.
