This email correspondence today from contributor Teresa Romain. Of interest and import in and of itself, and more, a perfect example of both the value and telling-the-truth power of this book, and, what a joy it is to be in partnership with people like Teresa on a project like It's time...

Hi John...
My schedule has changed somewhat today... so I'll be leaving my office shortly and then may not return until Friday, because we have a snowstorm on the way....
My daughter Rachel called this season 'Sprinter', the time of the year when Spring and Winter argue with each other as to who's in control on this day or that. It was 80 degrees here on Sunday. Tonight it will be 28.
Before I did, I wanted to send you an email to run by you the "topic ideas" or "slant" I want to address in your new book...at least in a really rough form...
'Our' new book, and, I'm ready...
In a nutshell, it's MONEY.... and while I could take several angles on it... what I really want to do is have people get that making more money or even making a lot of money in network marketing is not the "solution" to their problems... nor does it guarantee their abundance.
What I see far too often is that people enter network marketing focusing only on the AMOUNT of money they make... on the INCOME it will give them... but what they do not recognize is that INCOME is only part of the equation necessary to achieve financial prosperity...
Instead of developing a relationship with money (psychologically, emotionally and pragmatically) that is healthy, empowered and abundant... most network marketers bring their dysfunctional beliefs, thoughts, emotions and HABITS with money to their business. As a result, even if they do succeed in making more money... they use this additional income in the "same way" and end up with the "same result"... just on a grander scale...
You know.. the internals create the externals... but nobody is changing their internals!
I also see far too many network marketers who are trying to build their businesses who don't understand money, who don't know how to use money in a way that supports abundance; who think that being abundant with money means that they get to spend it all or that they won't have to think about money again. Many are actually afraid of money. All of this sabotages their success...
Too many people are "clueless" about money when they come into the business (at least "clueless" about what it means to use money in a healthy, mature, empowered and abundant way) and this cluelessness sabotages their success in the business... they mismanage it, they don't manage it, they spend to make it, but never actually get around to the "making money" part, etceteras.
I'll probably want to include some challenge about the debt crisis most networker marketers create for themselves... and how they think they need to make a lot of money to solve it (but they don't)...
And I'll probably also illustrate or describe how it's not how much money you make that matters— it's what you do with the money you make— how an extra $300 can make a huge difference.
Bottom line... the reason I see a lot of network marketers fail and/or quit this business is because they jump into the business without having a solid foundation and plan for how they will use network marketing to support their financial abundance. (This is very different than thinking that their business is the source of their financial abundance.). It's not any different than asking someone who has never had a swimming lesson (and may not even know how to swim) to swim in a race and expect them to win. They can't succeed— not because they don't have the potential— but because they do not know and have not developed the basics necessary for success, without which they will flounder and panic and dog paddle and get exhausted— and possibly drown...
Gee... that never happens in network marketing... especially financially! :-)
I realize I've rambled enough here... and I probably won't be able to cover all of this in one article... but I wanted you to have an idea of what I'm considering... where I want to go... and give you a chance to give me some feedback on what strikes a chord with you.
What strikes all my chords Teresa, is that your 'rambles' are what other people work weeks and months to refine into profound and important messages. You may want to consider NOT writing for the book, and instead just keep on rambling.
I'm going to start working in earnest on my article this weekend and want to have something "in the rough" for you to look at early next week... so let me know what you think of my ideas....
Important. Valuable. Needed. (Hopefully) wanted. Great stuff! To paraphrase the Sundance Kid, 'You just keep rambling girl. That's what you're good at.'
Again, I'll be back in the office on Friday... or sooner if the storm isn't as bad as they are predicting.
Have a great day!.
I promise! You, as well. My love to the sled dogs. Stay warm.
Teresa
